Les Malterre

When Daphné arrives at the village, she discovers that the area is tainted by the long shadow of the Malterre family.
Yves Malterre, the “patriarch”, is both the mayor and the owner of the Malterre sawmill, which employs half of the population of the little town. The other half is linked to the family by business ventures or other arrangements. Yves is married to Clothilde, a cold and taciturn woman, who seems to live in the shadow of her exuberant husband. They have two children, Solène, their daughter, and Stanislas, her younger sibling. Both of them are in their early thirties.
Stanislas has quite a bad reputation in the village, he’s a womanizer and a slacker, and most of the inhabitants see him as a nuisance. Solène is single mother, and she’s raising her son Pierre-Yves with the financial help of the family.
To top it all, there seems to be an old grudge between Daphné’s family, the Delatour and the Malterre, so she will have to deal with them whether she likes it or not. As she discovers her tumultuous roots, she comes to realizes that the link between the two families are far stronger than she imagined, and the Malterre may be the only ones who can unlock the secrets of her past.
Quand Daphné arrive au village, elle découvre que la région est sous le joug de la famille Malterre.
Yves Malterre, le “patriarche”, est à la fois maire et directeur de la scierie Malterre, qui emploie la moitié de la population de la bourgade. Quant à l’autre moitié, elle est liée de près ou de loin aux Malterre par des transactions financières ou d’autres arrangements. Yves est marié à Clothilde, une femme froide et taciturne, qui semble dans l’ombre de son époux, pour le moins exubérant. Ils ont deux enfants, Solène, leur fille ainée et Stanislas. Ils ont tous les deux une trentaine d’années.
Stanislas jouit d’une réputation exécrable au village, c’est un coureur de jupons et un dilettante, et la plupart des habitants le voient comme une nuisance avec laquelle ils doivent composer. Solène est une mère célibataire, elle élève son fils, Pierre-Yves, avec l’appui financier de la famille.
Pour couronner le tout, il semblerait qu’une vieille querelle fomente depuis des générations entre la famille de Daphné, les Delatour, et les Malterre, et qu’elle le veuille ou non, elle devra apprendre à composer avec leur présence. Tandis qu’elle découvre les clés de ses racines tumultueuses, elle se rend compte peu à peu que les liens entre les deux familles sont bien plus forts qu’elle ne l’imaginait, d’autant plus que les Malterre pourraient bien être les seuls à posséder les clés de son passé mystérieux.
